Appointment types

Individual sessions

Face-to-face counselling is generally preferable for sessions, especially in the beginning. However, I certainly see people on telehealth using a private end-to-end encrypted video link. The sessions are typically 50 minutes long and fees can be paid privately or aided with a Medicare rebate. Medicare can provide a rebate with a GP referral and Mental Health Care Plan for up to 20 sessions per calendar year, at the discretion of your GP. Rebates for telehealth are currently available for all metro and regional areas, as per Government guidelines. Some Private Health Insurance can also fully or partially cover the cost.

Couples Counselling

I see couples for an initial counselling session of 80-90 minutes. This allows for an better understanding of your relationship and to walk away with some insight into the perpetual problems or a skill to practice for better communication. Sessions may continue with an 80-90 minute session or can be 50-60 minutes if mutually agreed. Fees can only be provided privately as it does not attract a Medicare rebate. Some work places and private health insurance companies cover couples therapy.

Supervision

I am an AHPRA board-approved supervisor for the registrar program and 5+1 pathways. Group as well as individual sessions are available. My approach to supervision uses the philosophy of counselling psychology, which priorities relationships as the vehicle for change and growth. For early career psychologists, there can be many hurdles that aren’t often spoken about. The space I create is to allow these concerns to be verbalised safely.

Third-Party Payers

You may have funding through a third-party such as your employer (EAP program), DVA, VOCAT, Open Place, or another provider. Please let me know prior to your first appointment if you have funded sessions, as there may be some paperwork required beforehand to facilitate this.
